Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Studies at Queen’s University, a Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Democracy and Diversity (CSDD), and Associate Director of the Rights and Representation Lab at the CSDD. My ongoing work focuses on gender and sexuality in electoral and party politics in Canada, taken in comparative perspective. I have a particular focus on LGBTQ2S+ politics. My approach is methodologically pluralist, but my ongoing work primarily uses quantitative methods. My work has been published in a range of journals, including the Journal of Politics and Perspectives on Politics. I am also currently an Associate Editor at the European Journal of Politics and Gender.

My current research focuses on five main themes:

  1. Public opinion on LGBTQ2S+ rights, especially trans rights

  2. LGBTQ2S+ candidates and representation, especially voters’ reactions to LGBTQ2S+ candidates

  3. The political behaviour of LGBTQ2S+ people

  4. Inequalities facing candidates from other groups, particularly women

  5. Studying political science as a discipline to improvement, particularly the place of gender and sexuality and politics in the discipline and methods

I am currently interested in recruiting MA and PhD students, and I am happy to discuss postdoctoral fellowships at Queen’s.
